Through Soul Discovery sessions, participants delve into the liminal passages of their lives — reflecting not only on what happened, but on what it meant for their becoming. Through Story Crafting sessions, they shape those turning points into a soul-journey narrative using words, images, music, or whatever form feels true. Words optional. Betwixt & Between

Betwixt & Between: Discovering the Gift of the Liminal
Eight modules trace the liminal through time, space, and states of being — why the threshold unsettles us, how cultures have navigated it through ritual, nature, creativity, and community, how a passage can harden into a trap, and what it means to live in a world suspended between eras. No tradition or prior study needed.

The Art of the Liminal
Offered as:
a 45-minute presentation and discussion
a 90-minute presentation and workshop
a half-day enrichment class
This presentation considers the threshold as the artist’s native country — the unresolved place where an image arrives before its meaning does. We look at makers who have worked from that ground, ask why creative work so often asks for a season of not-knowing, and consider how to stay there long enough for something true to surface. In the workshop and half-day versions, participants try a short generative practice of their own.

Readings & Book Discussions
Offered as:
a 45–60 minute reading and conversation
A reading from Of Beginnings and Ends or Tales from the Liminal, followed by open conversation about the threshold in fiction — how a story holds a character in the passage between who they were and who they are becoming, and why so much of a life happens in the crossing rather than at either end. The discussion can lean toward craft — structure, point of view, the unresolved ending — or toward meaning, depending on your group.

Telography as genre and practice
Offered as:
a 45-minute presentation with discussion
Telography: the story of a soul; the account of one’s becoming. Also, the practice of creating one.
Telography is not one form but a gathering of many. Spiritual autobiography belongs to it. So does biography — the soul-story of another life, told by someone who witnessed it. So do the metaphorical tellings: the myth, the parable, the invented character who carries a real becoming. And so does any creative expression of a life’s turning, whether or not it uses words — the painting, the song, the piece of movement.
What makes a work a telography is not its shape but its subject. A memoir recounts a life. A telography attends to a becoming: the passages that turned it, and what each one asked. This session traces where the form came from, what belongs inside it and what doesn’t, and why so many traditions have reached for it without having a name to call it by.
